THE FUNCTIONS OF DISTRICT 8
(AKA South Sound Service Center) Our Primary Purpose is to carry the message.  In order to fulfill this, District 8 provides those services which are not met by individual groups and meetings.  The District funds all of the following services.
  • The Central Office
  • Maintains a stock of meeting schedules and literature for groups and individuals.
  • Open during the week for any AA communication and information.
  • Safe and secure storage area for the District Archives.
  • Central, secure location for District financial and legal records.
  • Location for the standing committee meetings.
  • District mailing address and phone line.
  • The 24 hour 12 step phone line, which provides for 12 step crisis calls and information.
  • The Standing Committees which carry the message are:
  • The Corrections Committee to jails and prisons.
  • The Treatment Committee to treatment centers.
  • The Public Information and Cooperation with the Professional Community Committee to the public and professionals.
  • Archives which keep the history of the District and groups.
  • The Summer Picnic, Gratitude Banquet and Monthly Newsletter.
  • The monthly GSR meeting.
  • The District Web Site.
  • Provides the means for voicing everyone’s group conscience at the local, state, and national level.

District 8 is funded by voluntary contributions from the groups within the District.

If you want the hand of AA to continue to be there, it is up to you.
