Some general information about AA meetings in District 8.   The A.A. Preamble is the best short description of what Alcoholics Anonymous does and does not do.

Meetings are held in various locations throughout the District.  They are listed in two main types OPEN and CLOSED.

OPEN meetings are open to anyone.

CLOSED meetings are for alcoholics only.  These are indicated in the schedule as such, all others are open meetings.

These two main types of meetings are, in some cases, listed in a sub group type.  This would be Men's Meetings, Women's Meetings, Study Groups, Groups with Babysitting Available,  Groups using the Agnostic Format, Gay/Lesbian Groups, Etc.

Men's Meetings are for Men and Women's Meetings are for Women. The other meetings are open to anyone.  Any meetings designated as a CLOSED meetings of these types are for alcoholics only of course.

Groups with the (RG) designation are Registered Groups.  Meetings listed in this directory either registered or those not listed as registered are listed at their request. A listing does not constitute or imply approval or endorsement of any meetings approach to, or practice of, the traditional A.A. program.  Many people new to AA ask if this has anything to do with who can attend the meeting.  It does not.  It simply means the meeting is registered with the General Service Office (GSO) and in a communication link with GSO.

The groups are autonomous, meaning they may vary in their meeting structure or format. There are no dues or fees for the meetings which are supported by the voluntary contributions of their own members.  The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking.

There is a meeting locator tab that will enable you to find the meetings that best suit your needs.  It is located at the top of this page and every meeting listing page.  It also has a link to a downloadable schedule in, PDF format, that can be viewed or printed on two sheets of legal size paper.

A.A. General Service Conference-approved literature going into more detail can be found at Alcoholics Anonymous in the about A.A. section.  Many find the A.A. AT A GLANCE pamphlet and other information there very informative.  Most of the literature is available at the South Sound Service Center
.  More information about the the office and literature can be found using the District 8 navigation button in the page header.

There area also Fellowship Halls, some information about local halls or clubs can be found HERE
